Solution
A premise is evidence which leads to a conclusion. An assumption does not lead to an inference. An assumption, if wrong, will weaken an inference. But a hypothesis does lead to a theory. A hypothesis is a suggested explanation for a group of facts or phenomena that is accepted as likely to be true.
