Answer the questions on the basis of the following charts.

(Note: Availability is defined as production less export.)

In which of the following years was the population of Chaidesh the lowest?

Answer & solution

  • 1995

  • B

    1996

  • C

    1997

  • D

    1999

Solution

Availability of Tea = Production − Export

∴ Per Capita availability = Production-ExportTotal population

∴ Total population = Production-Exportper capita availability

Population in 1995 = 421-207487=214487 = 0.44

Population in 1996 = 561-189464=372464 = 0.8

Population in 1997 = 587-209510=378510 = 0.74

Population in 1999 = 660-220556=440556 = 0.79

Hence, option (a).
